Herefordshire Heartstart is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life-saving emergency support courses for individuals in the Herefordshire area. We specialize in teaching essential skills that equip our community with the knowledge and confidence to act in emergency situations. Our courses are designed for people of all ages and backgrounds, and our goal is to empower our community to save lives.

What is a Heartstart Course?

A Heartstart course is an opportunity for you, your friends, and your family to learn essential life-saving skills in a supportive and friendly environment.

Our courses:

  • Follow the current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines
  • Combine informative talks, visual content, and practical demonstrations
  • Provide plenty of time to practise skills and ask questions
  • Are fully supported by our trained volunteer instructors

Who Can Attend?

The Heartstart Emergency Life Support course is aimed at people like you.

  • Anyone aged 10 and over can attend
  • No medical knowledge or experience is required
  • Bring friends, family, and neighbours and become a group of potential lifesavers

What is the course content?

Our 2-hour course covers:

  • The Chain of Survival
  • The conscious casualty
  • The recovery position
  • The unconscious casualty
  • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Defibrillation (AEDs)
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Choking

What Is the Cost?

  • Public Heartstart courses are FREE (Donations welcome)

For other groups:

  • Donations welcomed for private clubs/groups (non-public)
  • £20 per person for local businesses, GP surgeries, dental practices, care homes, etc.
  • £5 per person for college students

Booking Requests

How do I book a course?

To book/organise a new course:

  • Complete a booking request form (below)
  • Please provide at least 4 weeks' notice and ensure your venue is available on the dates requested
  • Courses are available Monday–Saturday (AM or PM), subject to volunteer availability
  • Courses run with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 24 participants
  • Public courses will be added/advertised on our Events page and Facebook page
  • Please visit our Events page to register attendance on upcoming public courses
